Anthony Browne is a famous children's author, whose work appeals to both children, and adults. He was born in 1946, september 11th in Sheffield, Yorkshire Anthony grew up there, with his older brother Michael, and his parents Jack and Doris May Browne. As he was growing up, he wanted to either be a journalist, a cartoonist, or a boxer. The first book that Anthony Browne wrote was in 1976, the book Through The Magic Mirror. The next year he wrote, A Walk In The Park, and then in 1979 he wrote Bear Hunt. His fame came in 1983, with his book Gorilla. Because of this, he won a Kate Greenaway Medal. In 1992, he won another Kate Greenaway Medal for his book zoo.Through his time as an author, he won two Kate Greenaway Medals from the Library Association, recognising the year's best children's book illustration in 1983, and 1992. In 200 he also won a Han Christian Anderson Award for illustration. You may notice there is alot of gorillas in Anthony Browne's books, as he has said he is very fasinated by them. Anthony Browne doesn't only write his own stories, he also illustrates other books.
