What is Anthony browne's style? |
What are some of the books written by Anthony Browne? |
Anthony Browne has a very unique writing style. He often uses his pictures to show feelings and emotions, which he doesn't show in the text. For example,
in his book 'Voices in the park' the boy is feeling shadowed by his mother. So, to express this, he took the fact that his mother always wears a hat, and drew hats everywhere. Also, if the person is feeling happy or sad he would use colours to show their mood. He has lots of hidden messages in his books, and everyone takes a different thing out of them. You get to decide at the end what you thought happened and what you think will happen next. He will also use fonts to show the personality of a character. Using the example 'Voices in the Park' again, the book is shown from four different perspectives. The young boy is sad and has a neat, thin font, his mum is very posh and has a neat font, the young girl is spirited and has a childish font, and her dad is poor and has a messy font. Anthony Browne has many different ways of expressing a characters feelings or emotions. |
